The Bed & Breakfast Al Vecchio Pioppo was born in our family home of the mid-800, finely restored and made functional to modern needs. It is located just 100mt from the sea and 400mt from the train station. Our B&B is furnished with antique and vintage furniture, beautifully restored and transformed to match the warm atmosphere of elegance and refinement that you breathe inside the structure. It is a perfect place to spend moments of total relax and tranquility, especially if you come before or after the most hectic part of the summer.
The rooms have independent air conditioning, TV and fridge. There is also the possibility to taste the regional and traditional flavors of our dishes. With the boat we organize wonderful trips along the beautiful coast, even with breakfast on board. We are open all year round.

Breakfast is served from 8.30 to 10.30. We supply coffee, milk, tea, barley and herbal teas, rusks, baked goods, pies, homemade donuts with organic ingredients, butter, packaged jams, fruit juices, and much more!

Blue Room - Green Room - Family Floor, is an entire floor, in the attic of our structure, with a sloping roof that goes from a maximum height, in the rooms, of 225 cm to a minimum in the lower part of 100 cm. Between the two rooms, one with a double bed and another with a queen-size bed and a single, there is a room with a table and fridge. The bathroom is on the floor and is obviously for the exclusive use of the guests who occupy these rooms, since the other guests all stay on the first floor. It is not a suitable environment for infants as there are two separate flights of stairs and there is also no possibility of having access to the use of the kitchen. The rooms are equipped with independent air conditioning, TV, attic windows with blackout blinds.
My name is Gaetano Calabrese, I have a high school certificate and started the veterinary University in Perugia. After quitting the University, I worked in different areas: a boat storage and I ran a beach bar and a bathing establishment. Furthermore I‘ve been working on antique furniture restoration for over fifteen years; I liked it so much - I still do it today!
As I like changes, my wife and I started this new “adventure” and created the first Bed & Breakfast in Praia a Mare, so…here we are!
My wife’s name is Antonella and without her, I would be lost! She’s a very ambitious woman, she also helps me in the furniture restoration, and lastly, she’s a great cook!
Our main courses are local, calabrian specialties made with hot pepper. We have two daughters: Flavia and Michela, both blonde with blue eyes… more Swedish than Italian! They are very cute. This is our family.
