I was born in 1978 in this wonderful city and had the privilege of studying at the State Institute of Art, where I obtained my diploma. I am the mother of an amazing 11-year-old boy, to whom I try to instill a passion for culture, sports, and a healthy diet. Together with my husband and his parents, we manage a tiny agricultural company dedicated to the production of wine, oil, vegetables, fruits, and honey, in harmony with nature and without the use of chemicals.
The opportunity to be a host allows me to meet and get to know people from all over the world, and I hope that this experience can open new horizons and opportunities for my son's future. During your stay, I wish for you to fully enjoy all the beauties that the city, its people, traditions, and customs have to offer. I will do my best to be of assistance so that your stay in Florence is unforgettable. Welcome!
Via della Scala, formerly dedicated to Santa Maria della Scala, owes its name to the hospital founded in 1313 by Cione di Lapo Pollini, a craftsman who became consul of the Arte della Lana. The hospital was protected by the homonymous one of Santa Maria della Scala in Siena, whose coat of arms with a three-rung ladder and a cross is visible along the street. Today, the street is home to the Gian Paolo Meucci Juvenile Penitentiary Institute.
The numbering starts from the end towards Piazza Santa Maria Novella. At the corner with the square, a tabernacle houses a copy of a fourteenth-century fresco by Antonio del Chierico. At number 6, the Dal Borgo palace displays graffiti frescoes and a bust of Cosimo I on the portal.
At the corner with Via del Porcellana stood the ancient Barelloni hospital, now represented only by the church dedicated to Saints Jacopo and Filippo. Along the street, there is the back of the Santa Maria Novella convent, with the Santa Maria Novella perfume-pharmaceutical workshop at number 16 and the old headquarters of the Carabinieri Officer Training School at the corner with Via della Santissima Concezione.
After passing Via Santa Caterina da Siena, at number 30, you will find the house of the Blessed Ippolito Galantini. At number 85, stands the Venturi-Ginori Palace, connected to the Oricellari Gardens. At number 62, the facade of the deconsecrated church of San Jacopo di Ripoli displays a terracotta lunette by Giovanni della Robbia (1522).
In the final part of the street, the Corsini Garden is delimited by a high wall on the left, with a portal and two statues of dogs facing towards the interior of the garden and the villa.
