Bed & Breakfast in Ragusa in the countryside

Tenuta Zannafondo is dipped into a carobs and secular olives wood and it is placed into the Ibleo altopiano at an altitude of 400 metres between Ragusa and Marina di Ragusa and at few kilometres from the sea. The landscape encloses the coast and an uncontaminated area that is neatly marked by the “muri a secco” and by the wonderful farms built with white stone. Zannafondo estate is a refined Bed and Breakfast consists of two old rural stone blocks dating back to 1800 that had been carefully restored treating with care the old structure and the original materials like the old pitch stone floor. The little stone drive takes to the main rural home and to the parking area. There are the hall, the reception and the common rooms for the breakfast and the dinner. There are outside terraces and little interior courts that are guarded by high stone walls that allow to relax and to get tanned during all the year. At the upstairs lives a young couple, Elio and Ivana, that loves this land. Elio is a draughtsman of the restauration and he works in an architecture studio and he had taken part in a restauration of many Unesco monuments and sites in the Iblea area. Elio knows perfectly this area and he is a good guide for everyone wants to visit it. Elios’ wife is a good cook and she loves the specialities and old recipes. She utilizes the natural food products of the Zannafondo estate guaranteeing to own guests an appetizing wine and food experience.

Our breakfast

The breakfast at Tenuta Zannafondo is unforgettable, with a variety of cakes such as pistachio, pear and chocolate or orange, as well as ricotta or jam and almond tart, or freshly baked hot ricotta-filled "cassatelle" and many other delicacies. All of them are made with fresh and genuine ingredients, and served buffet-style in the common room or on the external terraces with views of the countryside of Ragusa.

Restaurant

The Iblean panorama offers a feast for the senses, where the traditional methods used to produce the main foods of the Mediterranean Diet have earned it a place on UNESCO's World Heritage List. Ivana invites you to discover her version of Iblean cuisine, featuring famous focaccia, arancini, pasta with sardines, and wild fennel freshly picked right outside her door. At Tenuta Zannafondo, you'll enjoy an unforgettable breakfast with warm ricotta, freshly milked milk from the nearby farm, Ragusano DOP cheese, the estate's prized carob honey, and just-baked "cassatelle" pastries, cakes, tarts, and other delights, all made with fresh and genuine ingredients.
