Villa Trigona is an ancient noble villa still belonging to the noble Trigona family, an illustrious family whose history is intertwined with that of Sicily and Piazza Armerina. Important evidence of the role of this family is the monumental Cathedral founded in the 1600s by Marco Trigona and the splendid Trigona Palace, built of terracotta bricks and local sandstone. It belonged to the most important noble family in Sicily and the family crest is displayed on the central balcony architrave. Both are scenically located at the top of the town.
