The Valle dell'Acanto farmhouse takes its name from the natural environment of the valley where it is located, where the presence of acanthus leaves inspired its name. This structure, in typical Mediterranean style, dates back to the late 1800s and was originally a farmhouse, although settlements in the area date back much earlier. In fact, a cave has been discovered that was used as a place of worship in the past and has had various uses over the centuries.
The tranquility, peace, and silence make Valle dell'Acanto a small oasis ideal for those who wish to enjoy a place surrounded by untouched nature. However, in just a few minutes by car, you can reach the golden beaches of the Iblean coast and the Baroque cities of Modica, Scicli, and Ragusa Ibla. Here, you can taste the famous Modica chocolate, sip an almond milk beverage, or eat a brioche with mulberry granita.

At the Valle dell'Acanto, you will have the opportunity to visit a 5th century AD cave, originally used as a dwelling. In the 7th century, the site was transformed into a rock-hewn oratory dedicated to worship. You will also find niches where lamps and other objects were kept. Later, around the 15th century, the cave was expanded with the construction of masonry rooms just outside the entrance. Ditches were excavated in the large hall, and the structure housed a grape press and later an oil press. At the end of the last century, the cave was used as a stable and a storage facility for provisions.
