It is the perfect place for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Along the coast, you will find small shaded beaches and untouched natural corners. Numerous lakeside restaurants await you kindly to let you taste the typical dishes of the area. It is possible to rent pedal boats, canoes, and boats to spend a peaceful day on the wonderful lake. It is located in one of the most beautiful valleys in Bergamo, the Valle Cavallina.
The places to visit on Lake Endine are: Monasterolo, Endine, Spinone al Lago, San Felice al Lago, Ranzanico.
MONASTEROLO
Monasterolo is one of the most frequented centers of the lake, especially during the summer. Its medieval old town, which extends to the shore, is interesting. A place to visit is the Medieval Castle with its beautiful garden where numerous plants with vivid colors can be found. Inside the castle, in the 17th century, a small church dedicated to St. Anne was built.
Furthermore, the whole town offers a pleasant beach and a lakeside path.
SPINONE AL LAGO
Spinone al Lago enjoys a good position: the historic center is slightly uphill from the lake and presents beautiful Romanesque architecture, such as the Church of St. Peter in Vincoli, probably one of the oldest religious buildings in the valley. Spinone also had a castle, but it was demolished in the 15th century.
Interesting excursions will offer visitors splendid panoramic views of the lake. Arising after the Roman era and located on the shores of Lake Endine, it is famous for the thermal springs of San Carlo, where it is said that San Carlo Borromeo rested during his visit in 1575. Spinone is also worth a visit for the little church of San Pietro (11th century). Completely built in stone and surrounded by cedar and cypress trees, it is the only example of Romanesque architecture on Lake Endine. From the town, along an ancient path, you can take a beautiful hike to Bianzano and climb up to the ancient castle.
RANZANICO
With its wide green meadows, woods, and a beautiful panoramic position overlooking Lake Endine, Ranzanico is an oasis of peace, one of the most picturesque places in the province of Bergamo. Close to the town and the ski resorts of Tonale and Montecampione, Ranzanico allows you to reach the Valle del Freddo and Val Camonica, where you can admire prehistoric rock carvings, in just a few minutes.
BIANZANO
Bianzano is a village with ancient history and a holiday destination. With its curious comet-shaped form, it preserves numerous medieval buildings in the historic center. The most important of these is the Suardi Castle. The medieval complex, located on the top of the village, is one of the few that was spared from the Venetians' demolitions in the 15th century and maintains its original square structure from the late 13th century. Also worth noting is the Church of the Assumption, also from the 13th century, with a valuable wooden altar of the Fantoni school and a suggestive position on top of the valley.
ENDINE GAIANO
The village, which gives its name to the lake, is surrounded by mountains rich in vegetation, reed beds, and silver willows. In addition to some 15th and 16th-century houses, you can admire the 18th-century church of San Giorgio, with its beautiful 13th-century stone bell tower. Traces of the medieval period are still visible in the castle square. Along the lake shores and nearby, interesting paths can be taken towards the Colli di San Fermo and the Valle del Freddo, characterized by cold underground currents that create a unique microclimate and flora.
Orio al Serio International Airport is strategically located at the entrance of the two main valleys.
Lift systems, alpine ski slopes, cross-country ski trails, snowboarding, ice skating, bobsledding: this and much more is what the Bergamo mountains offer during winter, positioning themselves among the best-equipped ski resorts in Lombardy. The most important ski resorts are Montecampione, Ponte di Legno, Aprica, and Passo del Tonale.
