You will be hosted by Mario

My name is Mario, I'm 63 years old, married to Patrizia, and we have two children. I am a passionate marathon runner: I run everywhere, whether on roads, sand, or in the mountains, and I love discovering new trails surrounded by nature. When I'm not running, I enjoy hiking and walking along the paths of Abruzzo, which I consider a second home. I like being around people and sharing experiences and stories with those I meet. Welcoming guests into my home is a true pleasure: I always strive to offer kindness, friendliness, and the warmth of a family-like atmosphere, so that everyone can truly feel at home.

Roccacinquemiglia is a charming mountain village located over a thousand meters above sea level, nestled between Castel di Sangro and Roccaraso, in the heart of Alto Sangro and the Five Miles Plateau. Surrounded by beech forests and breathtaking views, it retains the genuine atmosphere of small Abruzzese towns, where time seems to pass more slowly and the tranquility of nature prevails. The historic center, perched on a rocky outcrop, features a maze of narrow streets, stairways, and stone houses that tell centuries of history. Notable sites include the Church of San Rocco, which houses the statue of the saint known for a miracle that occurred in 1838, and the ruins of the Church of Santa Maria di Cinquemiglia, a testament to the village's ancient religious heritage. Every summer, on August 16th, the patron saint festival of San Rocco brings life to the streets with music, processions, and moments of community celebration. Just a short drive away are Castel di Sangro, a lively town with restaurants, museums, and amenities, and Roccaraso, one of the main ski resorts in the Apennines, featuring modern facilities and pristine slopes for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Nearby, the towns of Rivisondoli and Pescocostanzo are also worth a visit, boasting charm and tradition, with artisan shops, historical churches, and picturesque views. The area serves as an excellent starting point for exploring the natural parks of Abruzzo. The Abruzzo, Lazio, and Molise National Park and the Majella Park offer hundreds of trails for hiking, horseback riding, or mountain biking, along with opportunities to spot deer, wolves, and Marsican bears. In the summer, the lakes of Barrea and Scanno provide a delightful destination for swimming and relaxing in nature. Thus, Roccacinquemiglia is an ideal destination for mountain lovers in every season: skiing in winter, hiking in summer while breathing fresh air, enjoying the autumn foliage, and appreciating the scents of blooming forests in spring. It is an authentic place that conveys the true essence of Abruzzo.
