Bari Sardo is a renowned destination in Ogliastra for its enchanting coastline, which stretches for approximately 10 km and is characterized by the clarity and cleanliness of its waters. For this reason, over the past 15 years, the Municipality has been awarded the Blue Flag several times. Overlooking the beach of Bari Sardo is the Aragonese Tower, with stretches of typical Mediterranean vegetation behind it, dominated by the presence of red juniper (Juniperus oxicedrus L.sspoxycedrus), Phoenician juniper (Juniperus phoenicea L.), and domestic pine (Pinus domestica L.).
The coast of Bari Sardo starts to the north with the beach of Cea, which partly falls within the territory of the nearby city of Tortolì. The beach, over a kilometer long, has a bottom of fine white sand. Its shallow waters have a sparkling blue color created by the reflections of the sun on the seabed. A few meters from the shore, two red porphyry sea stacks rise. Moving southwards, the sandy coast is abruptly interrupted by the dark cliffs of Punta Niedda, Punta Su Mastixi, and the Caletta di S'Abba e s'Ulimu. These cliffs constitute the extreme part of the basaltic plateau of Teccu and are a unique feature along the entire Ogliastra coast. Exploring the suggestive seabed created by the basaltic rock formations is particularly loved by snorkeling and diving enthusiasts, but the richness of the underwater world also attracts those who practice underwater fishing.
The coastal area, which stretches for approximately 10 km, is very diverse and characterized by the clarity and cleanliness of its waters. Much of the coast is equipped with beach support services such as lifeguards, showers, restrooms, access for people with disabilities, and parking lots. There are various activities that offer various services: accommodations, bars, refreshment points, diving centers, and several beach establishments where the nightlife is particularly lively. It is also possible to rent umbrellas, sunbeds, and pedal boats. There are also two stretches of coastline reserved for dogs called "bau beach". Over the years, Bari Sardo has received prestigious awards such as the 4 sails of Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano, the blue and green flags, respectively for water quality and accessibility for children, awarded by the Italian Pediatric Association.
