In an elegant noble palace from the 18th century, skillfully and tastefully restored, in the center of the ancient village of Avezzano di Sessa Aurunca, at the foot of the evocative and majestic mountain range of Monte Massico, a few kilometers from the sea and the sand dunes of Baia Domizia, and on the outskirts of the ancient Appian Way, you will find the "La Cavella" Country House Restaurant, once a Bed and Breakfast.
The palace, protected by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the Environment, was originally a noble residence connected to agricultural exploitation of the land. It still retains intact evidence of this in its architectural structure, such as a large olive mill, spacious cellars where the production of excellent local wine, Falerno, was stored, and the huge attic spaces used as storage for wheat, oats, and other agricultural products. Adjacent to the palace is a small chapel dedicated to Saint Anthony Abbot, the patron saint of animals.
The old stables have been transformed into a kitchen, the ancient cellars house a carefully selected collection of wines, the noble rooms serve as bedrooms, the rustic kitchen is now a tavern, and the large hall is an elegant venue for events.
Furthermore, the vast outdoor spaces offer equipped areas for dining, relaxation, and sunbathing, just a few meters from the racecourse and the enchanting olive grove, which is the source of the oil used in our kitchen. The Country House La Cavella is a place that is easily accessible but difficult to leave. It offers its guests various types of spacious rooms, all furnished in the finest rustic tradition, equipped with air conditioning, TV, free Wi-Fi, minibar, and hairdryer.
The buffet breakfast, included in the room price, is varied and abundant, with seasonal fruit, homemade pastries, and the delicious ricotta cheese from the Terra Aurunca region.
La Cavella Country House offers a culinary experience that stands out for its simplicity and sophistication, inspired by local traditions. Our cuisine emphasizes the use of high-quality ingredients sourced from local, organic, and zero-kilometer suppliers. Additionally, we offer you the opportunity to personalize your gastronomic experience, choosing vintage wines and exquisite ingredients.
La Cavella Country House is open to the public on Friday and Saturday evenings from 7:30 pm and every Sunday for lunch, with a menu that celebrates local culinary tradition. Furthermore, upon reservation, we can organize events and receptions during the week. Our historic residence is the perfect place to celebrate special occasions such as baptisms, communions, birthdays, and business meetings.
In addition to private parking, La Cavella Country House features a spacious room decorated with antique stucco and valuable paintings, offering a breathtaking view of the racecourse park and the picturesque Massico, a surrounding mountain range. This room is ideal for hosting your event, providing a rustic and refined atmosphere. On the lower floor, you will find another room where you can savor the delights created by our Chef Agostino, choosing from a wide selection of à la carte dishes.
