The Flowered Crocodile is ideally situated if you plan to arrive by train and explore Viareggio on foot (if you’re traveling by car, get in touch with us for some parking tips—we have our own tricks). We are just a short walk from the station, far enough so you won’t hear the trains whistling from your room, and only 700 meters from Piazza Mazzini, the heart of the seaside "Passeggiata" with its famous Liberty-style buildings. In the summer, within 800 meters along the promenade, you’ll find the beach resorts, while during Carnival, the main entrance to the grand masked parades is right in the square. Via XX Settembre is mainly a residential street, but in the nearby parallel and side streets, you can find all the bars, restaurants, shops, and other services you might need. For window shopping, we’re close to the market square and the pedestrian areas of Via Fratti and Via Battisti. Whatever the season, you can use us as your base for train trips: in 20 minutes you can reach Pisa by the tower or Lucca by the walls, in 60 to 75 minutes the Cinque Terre, and in 90 minutes Florence. Are you coming to Viareggio for a party? During Carnival, you can walk to all the different districts. In summer, we have the night bus stop here for all the Versilia nightlife, from the most upscale venues to the LGBTQ+ rainbow scene at the marina of Torre del Lago, where the weekends start on Wednesdays.
