Ostana - Oustano in the local language - is an Occitan village in the upper Po Valley, composed of numerous hamlets arranged on a sunny slope, located in front of the pyramid of Monviso. Like many mountain settlements, it has experienced gradual depopulation in recent years. However, unlike other villages, Ostana has managed to react and has found its own path of development. Perhaps it is due to the incomparable beauty of the landscape (with Monviso standing tall and powerful right in front), the excellent exposure, the abundance of clean water and air, the numerous pastures, the good road connection, or the presence of a attentive and proactive administration, but Ostana is experiencing a second youth and is considered a laboratory of alpine architecture and rebirth. The beauty of the place is such that Ostana has been fully included in the "Most Beautiful Villages of Italy". To reach Ostana, you must follow the signs for the Po Valley until the junction just before Crissolo, about 32 km from Saluzzo, the capital of the Ancient Marchesato. Instead, if you continue along the main road, you will reach the village of Crissolo, a ski resort of Monviso, with its well-known tourist attractions: the sources of the Po River at Pian del Re and the Rio Martino Cave.
