The B&B Al Gufo Saggio is a unique structure built entirely with straw bales. We have chosen to use straw because it is an ecological material, easily available and completely biodegradable. Moreover, the straw bales we have used come directly from the field next to our house, saving on processing and transportation costs. An authentic "Metro Zero" experience! Straw also offers excellent thermal insulation, effectively protecting from summer heat and winter cold. Thanks to this, we are able to drastically reduce energy consumption for cooling and heating, practically to zero! There are no fire risks, as the straw is coated with plaster and densely compressed, preventing combustion in the presence of oxygen. Additionally, the structure is extremely safe from a seismic point of view, as the straw effectively absorbs shocks, guaranteeing maximum protection without any risk of collapse. The combined use of straw with lime and raw earth plaster also ensures excellent humidity regulation, guaranteeing unparalleled climatic comfort.
