"Villa La Dogana," a historic residence of the Orsini Princes, is located in Lucca, just 7 km from Piazza Napoleone and San Michele in Foro. We offer rooms with free WiFi, air conditioning, and access to the wonderful centuries-old garden, perfect for unforgettable moments of tranquility. The villa is situated along the ancient road that connected Lucca to Pisa.
This typical Tuscan country residence was originally built as a summer residence for the Orsini Princes of Rome. History tells us that the noble family even had a small train station built in front of the house for more convenient access.
Today, the station is slightly farther away but still easily reachable, even on foot. It is a very pleasant experience to travel with the characteristic trains that run along this route and visit the art cities of Pisa, Lucca, and Florence, as well as Versilia or the thermal baths of Montecatini and San Giuliano.
Villa La Dogana is the ideal place to savor the spirit of ancient Tuscan vacation homes. Here, you can immerse yourself in the scents of a long-lost way of life, breathe the serene and relaxing atmosphere, and enjoy the beauty of a park hidden from everyone's eyes.
The interiors of the villa are characterized by a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere that reflects Tuscan tradition. The ancient terracotta floors, wooden beamed ceilings, and restored family furniture create an elegant and refined environment. All rooms have independent heating, double beds or French beds in the suites.
The surrounding park is enriched with centuries-old magnolias and holm oaks, yews, hollies, willows, Judas trees, and a marvelous bamboo forest with a central green room, perfect for isolating oneself from the world and enjoying tranquility.
