Villa Erbaia Relais de Charme

Villa Erbaia, the noble heart of Mugello, is a distinguished historic residence that has been perfectly restored while maintaining its charm and historical-cultural importance, just a stone's throw away from Florence.

In 1880, as on other occasions, the villa welcomed the King of Italy, Umberto I, and the Duke of Aosta, along with the entire court. Previously, the villa had hosted the presence of Emperor Charles V and Pope Pius IX. In short, along with Cafaggiolo (Medici), le Maschere (Gerini), and the ancient estates of the Ubaldini, Guidi, Bardi, and Alberti families, the property constituted the core of a cultural and economic system that made Mugello famous from the 15th to the 19th century.

From the 14th century until 1918, the historic villa of l'Erbaia belonged to the Dini family of Florence, a historic dynasty that included important figures such as the Gonfaloniere Francesco di Piero di Dino, father of the Florentine senator Agostino, who had a company of apothecaries with Francesco Rucellai. He was also one of the 48 chosen by Duke Alessandro dè Medici for the establishment of the Florentine Senate.

Historical documents from that period attest that the production of medicinal herbs took place precisely in the lands adjacent to Villa Erbaia, from which the name derives.

In 2023, the idea was born to convert Villa Erbaia into a cozy Relais de Charme with 9 rooms.
