Nestled in the lush green hills surrounding the charming and ancient city of Mondovì stands Villa Durando, a bed and breakfast in Mondovì.
Formerly the summer residence of General Durando, it is currently owned by the Giaccone family, who have sought to maintain the charm and history that the house has passed down through the centuries. The villa offers its guests environments that transport them to a bygone era, but with all the modern comforts.
There is a spacious living room with period decorations and a fireplace, where guests can spend evenings entertained by the notes of the piano.
Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the nearby athletics tracks and affiliated football fields.
The villa consists of 6 rooms with private bathrooms, all with wooden floors, TV, minibar, hairdryer, and bathrobe, all in environments that evoke the style of the era. There is also a suite with a decorated ceiling and a sofa bed. Families or groups of 5 people can also use an adjacent room, separated only by a small hallway but independent from the others. There are also two refined accommodations, meticulously cared for: one with wooden floors and ceiling that create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, the other with loft rooms and a balcony with a breathtaking view of Piazza Mondovì.
Attached to the house is a large fenced park where guests can spend moments of relaxation in total tranquility, and for the little ones, the possibility to run freely without danger.
The villa is located just two kilometers from the historic center of Mondovì Breo and a short distance from both downhill and cross-country ski slopes. Don't miss a walk through the vineyards of the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where you can taste unique wines and gastronomic specialties in various wineries. I am a very dynamic man, I enjoy creating and innovating, traveling and discovering new things, exploring new lifestyles. This structure immediately caught my attention from the first moment I saw it, both for its potential to become a welcoming facility without losing its authenticity, and for its fascinating history. I purchased it from the last descendant of the Durando family, who was living alone in this house with a Second World War rifle on her bedside table, at the age of 95, back in 2002. Since then, I have started renovating it, making improvements every year and trying to maintain and restore the charm of the original era. Finally, in August 2016, after many sacrifices, I opened its doors, hoping to bring this house back to life and to allow our guests to experience the same charm it had for me. I eagerly await your arrival to let you taste all the products that my wife prepares with care and attention to detail every day, paired with products from our land and garden (which, if desired, you can also request to take away) and we hope you will appreciate them.
The structure is located in a green area and is situated a short distance from the Langhe vineyards, where you can enjoy wines and traditional dishes at various recommended inns. A map with all the most important sites in the area will be provided. Additionally, there is the option to use the adjacent athletics track. During the month of May, the television festival takes place in Dogliani, while in June you can witness the reenactment of the Napoleonic battle in costume in Cherasco. In July, the Collisioni events are held in Mondovì, as well as the grand Collisioni event in Barolo. In September, the grape harvest is celebrated in Dogliani, and the traditional fair at the Vicoforte sanctuary takes place. In October, there is the pumpkin fair in Piozzo and the grand truffle fair in Alba. In November, the leek fair is held in Cervere and the grand truffle fair in Alba. Finally, in December, the fair of the fat ox is held in Carrù, where you can taste the typical boiled meat dish. Also, consider the numerous antique fairs, such as those in Cherasco and Benevagenna. Additionally, the ski slopes of Pratonevoso or Altesina are only a 20-minute drive away.
