Villa Doria Il Torrione
This is a historic residence with a park that is among the most beautiful gardens in Italy. It's a B&B accommodation with tennis courts on red clay and a heated swimming pool exclusively for guests.
Located in one of the largest private parks in Piedmont, the image of this residence is the result of interventions carried out since the early 19th century. These interventions encompassed a vast area with the goal of isolating the noble residence from the medieval farmhouses. They were the result of a profound design work by technicians and clients, documented by drawings preserved in archives, including those by architects Ignazio Michela, Antonelli, Mainoni, and Clerichetti, as well as the German landscaper Xavier Kurten. The Torrione complex has been known since the Middle Ages, and the oldest drawing, by Bertino Riveti in 1558, depicts a keep with a crenellated tower surrounded by walls with cylindrical towers.

Located at the foot of the hilly area that climbs towards the amphitheater of the Western Alps where the Monviso, one of the highest peaks in Italy, stands majestically, Villa Doria "Il Torrione" property is about 2 km from Pinerolo, a historic city of cavalry, where the National Museum of the same name is located, and where you can admire the ancient village that goes up from the Cathedral of San Donato towards the Sanctuary of San Maurizio, the Diocesan Art Museum and the Civic Art Collection of Palazzo Vittone. A short distance away is Saluzzo with its castle, churches, and ancient palaces, rich in history and works of art, including the Castle of Manta which preserves one of the most important cycles of profane painting of the fourteenth century.
About 50 km towards the French border, there is Sestrieres, a famous winter sports resort which, together with Pinerolo, was one of the venues for the 2006 Winter Olympics. Only 25 km away is Turin, the capital of Piedmont, with its precious works of art including the Egyptian Museum, the Holy Shroud Chapel, the Sabauda Gallery, the Cinema Museum (inside the Mole Antonelliana), and the Gallery of Modern Art.
Thanks to its strategic position, Il Torrione is also at the center of a path of historic residences linked to the Savoy dynasty. Within a radius of 50 km, we find in fact: the Royal Palace of Turin, the Guariniano Palazzo Carignano, the Castle of Stupinigi, the Castle of Rivoli, the Castle of Agliè, and the Castle of Raccconigi.
