The facility is located just 4 km from the Vincenzo Florio airport in Trapani and 80 km from the Falcone Borsellino airport in Palermo. Furthermore, it is situated 12 km from Marsala, 30 km from the ancient medieval village of Erice, and 40 km from the archaeological site of Segesta. The Stagnone Lagoon is a beautiful area characterized by shallow waters and surrounded by the four islands of San Pantaleo (the ancient Mothia), Isola Grande, Schola, and Santa Maria.
This natural landscape is truly unique for its beauty and colors, thanks to the white salt pans and picturesque windmills.
In ancient times, particularly during the Phoenician era, the Stagnone was a place of great importance due to the presence of Mozia, an influential Phoenician trading center for exchanges between the East and the West. The Phoenicians were able to travel even at night, orienting themselves with the help of the Ursa Minor (the North Star), which the Greeks significantly called the "Phoenician Star".
