Located in the picturesque medieval village of Scopello, less than 2 km from the Zingaro Reserve, this small pension offers warm hospitality, good cuisine and attentive cleanliness. It has been run with care for 30 years by Marisin and Salvatore Tranchina.
At breakfast, you can choose from fresh fruit, Sicilian cheeses, hard wheat bread baked in a wood-fired oven, oil and homemade jams. Dinner features local culinary tradition and fresh fish, with options of meat or vegetarian dishes upon request. Seasonal sides, fresh fruit and homemade dessert are also included.
During winter days, you can relax in the lounge by a crackling fireplace with a glass of wine. Marisin speaks English and Spanish fluently and will be happy to provide you with all the information to make your stay pleasant.
The pension is in an ideal location that allows you to easily reach the surrounding coast and visit the main historical-cultural sites of northwestern Sicily (Segesta, Selinunte, Erice, Mozia, Palermo, Monreale), all a short distance from Scopello. You can return home in the evening where you will discover the authentic flavors of Sicily.
This has created an international clientele that frequents the pension throughout the year, as evidenced by the reviews of Italian and foreign tourist guides.
For breakfast, we aim to please both sweet and savory lovers. We will serve homemade sweets, fresh seasonal fruit, our jams, different every day (oranges, figs, apricots) and local honey, cured meats, freshly baked bread in a wood-fired oven. We will also let you taste our organic olive oil, Sicilian cheeses and fresh sheep's ricotta.
In our kitchen, we use only fresh, local and authentic products, as we want you to taste and appreciate the finest ingredients our land has to offer. The dinner menu is fixed, consisting of a first course, a fish dish, a side dish, fruit and dessert. The menu changes every day, allowing you to taste different first courses of Sicilian tradition or our family tradition, such as pasta with the trapanese pesto, pasta with sardines and fennel, a reinterpretation of the "pasta alla norma". Among the fish dishes, carefully prepared with simplicity to preserve the flavor of the sea, are tuna, sweet and sour or grilled, prawns, dentex baked in salt, but also many "poor" fish, such as the "a beccafico" sardines, the forkbeard and the bonito. For those who wish, we also prepare meat dishes or vegetarian dishes. In our guesthouse, we do not serve lunch, giving you the freedom to enjoy the beauty of Western Sicily or relax on the beach and taste the delicacies that Sicilian street food has to offer: "pane cunzato" (bread baked in a wood-fired oven, seasoned with olive oil, oregano, anchovies, tomatoes and first salt cheese), arancini, sfincione (Sicilian pizza), panelle and much more.
