On a sad October evening in 2010, I had a dream: to open an innovative hostel in Pavia, with a high quality of hospitality. Not a dormitory, not a barracks, but a place where you can feel good at affordable prices.
A place to accommodate young people and girls from all over the world, families, people of all ages, open to the city as well. A place to sleep, drink, meet, chat and have fun, all in a modern and healthy environment.
A bike ride, a run, a canoe trip, a walk along the banks of the Ticino, a game of golf or tennis, a dip in the pool and why not, a good meal or dinner in a typical restaurant, all within 200 meters of our facility.
The discovery of 40 species of perennial plants placed at the entrance, cared for with love and carefully chosen.
Our peaceful room, a laboratory of ideas, to communicate, exchange thoughts and, why not, help each other think about a better world.
"Because ideas are like butterflies, you can't clip their wings."
"Because ideas are like stars, storms don't extinguish them."
From here "Pavia Hostel" is born, a simple idea but with clear goals. Today, located at 3 Viale Brenta in Pavia, on the banks of the Ticino, the dream has become a reality.
Our rooms, with single beds, exclusive double beds, triple and quadruple beds, are ideal for families and all have private bathrooms, air conditioning, TV, free Wi-Fi, wooden floors, spacious showers with mosaics and resin coatings, and hairdryers.
The common areas offer water dispensers, drinks, coffee and snacks, an internet room with 10 seats, a TV room and tables for meals. Outside, there are common areas with tables and bicycles available for rent.
A thank you to all those who have contributed so that those nights, that night, were just the result of a bad moment, in which a dream was born that continues today in our beautiful reality.
Nothing will prevent the sun from rising again, not even the darkest night. Beyond the darkness of the night, there is a dawn waiting for us.
Welcome.
Once upon a time, Pavia was adorned with a staggering 100 towers, each boasting distinctive clocks. However, today, the only ones that can be admired are those in Piazza Leonardo da Vinci.
Pavia was once the capital of the Lombard Kingdom. Since the Middle Ages, this city has been home to one of Italy's oldest universities. Until 1872, the city was fortified, but the bastions were transformed into boulevards and public gardens. Although much of the walls were demolished in 1901 to build ring roads, some sections survived.
Pavia is the capital of a fertile province primarily dedicated to agriculture, particularly viticulture, rice cultivation, and cereal farming. Industries are scarce, and the city's main activities revolve around the University of Pavia, which, together with the IUSS University School, forms the so-called "Pavia university system," and the San Matteo Policlinic.
Near Pavia, you can find the famous monument of the Certosa di Pavia, a harmonious fusion of styles showcased through the beauty of marbles, paintings, and decorations. It was built in 1396 at the behest of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, who summoned the most renowned architects and artists of the time. It is an absolute must-visit.
