B&B Palazzo Salis
Located in the northeast part of the historic city of Chiavenna, overlooking the central square of the Castle, is Palazzo Salis.
Its construction dates back to the eighteenth century, when the Salis family from Grisons decided to use it as their city residence.
It is said that the goal was to create a more elegant and decorated building than the austere castle of the Balbiani, which stands on the other side of the square.
The main facade of the Palace facing the garden has a rare elegance and lightness of architecture, as well as sumptuous interiors. The wonderful reception hall, which represents the main nucleus of the villa, has a rectangular plan and is on two floors.
Its walls are adorned with stucco and frescoes that create an atmosphere of typical Venetian taste for the visitor. All the rooms of the palace recall the Baroque style, with soft colors like pastel green and pink, frescoes and Rococo decorations adorning the ceilings.
The floors are made of characteristic ollare stone or black and white checkered marble. Outside, a pleasant garden shaded by ancient trees frames the Palace.
