The panoramic rooms offer stunning glimpses of Montepulciano, the Renaissance rooftops, the Val di Chiana, Lake Trasimeno, Montepulciano, and Chiusi, extending to the Tuscan Apennines. In contrast, the Mercante Superior and Poliziano Classic rooms overlook Via Ricci, revealing the village's hidden corners and the oratory of Sant’Antonio, which now serves as the home of the Contrada di Talosa.
This historic building, protected by monumental constraints, displays the ancient coat of arms of the Minerbetti family, a noble Florentine lineage from the 13th century, on its façade. The renovation preserved the original architecture, maintaining exposed beams, wooden floors, and travertine details, which are harmoniously combined with modern elements to create welcoming and bright spaces.
Palazzo del Mercante is passionately and professionally run by Gabriella and Angelo's family, who have over 35 years of experience in hospitality. Today, their children Simone, Cristina, and Alessio warmly welcome guests alongside a young and trained staff, eager to uncover the secrets of Montepulciano and the surrounding valleys, such as Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana. Each stay here is a plunge into history, immersed in the beauty and tradition of Tuscany.

Poliziano Classic rooms are located on the second floor of the building and overlook Via Ricci, heart of Montepulciano’s old town centre. They are characterized by large king size beds and neutral romantic tones. The ceilings with exposed wooden beams give the room a typical rural Tuscan appearance. On the other hand, the modern bathrooms are furnished with an extremely comfortable shower with a wide “rain” and “waterfall” shower head.
Poliziano Classic rooms are located on the second floor of the building and overlook Via Ricci, heart of Montepulciano’s old town centre. They are characterized by large king size beds and neutral romantic tones. The ceilings with exposed wooden beams give the room a typical rural Tuscan appearance. On the other hand, the modern bathrooms are furnished with an extremely comfortable shower with a wide “rain” and “waterfall” shower head.
The Mercante Superior room is a wide double bedroom overlooking Via Ricci, heart of Montepulciano’s old town centre. They are characterized by delicate hazel furniture and typical exposed wooden beams giving the room a typical Tuscan appearance. The modern bathroom, made of travertine and cortèn iron, are furnished with a comfortable shower with a round shower head with "rain" and nebulizer settings.
La camera Mercante King Superior è tra le camere più spaziose della residenza ed è dotata di letto king size. L’ampia finestra si affaccia su via Ricci e la posizione elevata della camera, al terzo piano, permette di percorrerla per intero con lo sguardo fino a Piazza Grande. Il mobilio, di color bianco venato, si sposa armoniosamente con il rosso vermiglio dei tendaggi e della testiera del letto. Il bagno, luminoso e spazioso, è dotato di doccia con soffione ad effetto pioggia e cascata e di un raffinato specchio rotondo retroilluminato.

Two large soundproofed windows offer a breathtaking view of Montepulciano and Valdichiana valley. The gray furniture, together with a classic green, gives the room a bright and pleasant atmosphere. The modern bathroom, made of wood and travertine, is equipped with a comfortable shower with a round shower head with “rain” and “waterfall” settings and chromotherapy.
The Panoramic King Deluxe is the largest of our rooms and it comes with a romantic king size canopy bed. The light and delicate furniture gives the room an intimate and romantic environment. Two large soundproofed windows offer a breathtaking view of Montepulciano and Valdichiana valley, up to the Trasimeno Lake, the Montepulciano Lake and the Chiusi Lake. The classic bathroom is equipped with a wide shower with "rain", "waterfall" and "nebulizer" settings and chromotherapy.
