The B&B Palazzo Taranto Luxury Room is located in a magnificent setting within the charming Palazzo Taranto, built in the late Baroque style in the 18th century at the request of the noble family of the generous philanthropist Emanuele Taranto. Emanuele Taranto Rosso, born in 1801 in Caltagirone, was a man of letters, scientist, and religious figure, and he donated all his precious manuscripts to the library, where his portrait can be admired. The structure is situated at the foot of the Maria SS. del Monte staircase, behind the Church of S. Giuseppe, and offers a view of the enchanting Spadaro Garden. Inside, there are two "Luxury Rooms": "Imperia" and "Golden Room," equipped with all the comforts for an unforgettable, romantic stay, ideal for those who desire a vacation that combines beauty, history, and local culture. The structure is enhanced by three splendid salons, characterized by frescoes and original floors from their respective historical periods, ranging from the 18th to the 20th century. We have created this B&B to showcase and make accessible a piece of Caltagirone's rich historical heritage, which has been neglected for too long. Since the 19th century, it has been the center of intellectual and political activities of illustrious figures, including Luigi Sturzo, his nephew.
Beautiful double room with fine finishes and original red brick exposed. Welcoming and intimate, has a windows that faces into the gracious Spadaro garden.
Splendid and spacious double room, has a lovely balcony overlooking the Spadaro garden, a green area in the historic centre. The bathroom, spacious and modern, is embellished with ancient 18th century tiles.
We are two women who have decided to put our skills into practice and offer culture in an active and creative way. Like the Sun and the Moon, different but both full of energy and light, we have chosen to open two independent rooms within a palace, each with its own style: a blue room and a golden room. From here come the names of the rooms, Golden and Imperia Room. The larger of the two of us is a painter, who has been painting and drawing since she was a child, while the other has a passion for theater. We have combined the beauty of these arts, displaying Roberta's paintings in each room, along with texts, legends, and stories that reflect our rich cultural heritage.
The area becomes even more fascinating as it is located just beyond the first two steps of the famous Matrice Staircase, leading you to a magical corner enriched by the greenery of the Spadaro Garden and its countless "carruggi", which are the characteristic narrow alleys of the Arab era. If you walk through them, you can reach the top of the Matrice Staircase and the parallel neighborhoods.. where, higher up, you can discover the imposing building of San Agostino, recently opened to the public and hosting the whistle exhibition. Alternatively, you can take other roads that lead to the Church of the Holy Patron of Caltagirone: the Church of San Giacomo. If you are an art lover and want to discover something extraordinary, you can admire the treasures inside the famous churches (we are available to provide further information and explanations). As for entertainment, pubs, breweries, and bars are easily accessible. For those seeking tradition, we highly recommend participating in religious festivities (such as the "Giunta" at Easter), villa evenings, traditional processions accompanied by the marching band, and admiring the Matrice Staircase, decorated with flowers in May and illuminated during the summer.
