The Student's Hostel of Ghiara is located in the heart of the historic center of Reggio Emilia, within the enchanting structure attached to the splendid Basilica of Ghiara, from which it takes its name. Within a short distance, you can find the city's main museums and monuments.
The hostel is open to all types of travelers and is particularly suitable for school and youth tourism. The facility is operational all year round and offers 100 beds in private or shared rooms, with or without private bathrooms. Inaugurated in 2000, it is equipped with modern amenities and cozy common rooms for relaxation and meetings.
During the summer, the cloister and garden become a pleasant meeting place for guests. The privileged location of the hostel allows easy access on foot to the main urban and suburban transportation, as well as the train station. Furthermore, the hostel is accessible to everyone and has rooms and bathrooms equipped for people with disabilities.

Our adventure began in 2003, when we were a group of university students eager to escape the social limitations that oppress young Sicilians. In collaboration with the Regional Agency for the Right to Study of the University of Palermo, we managed student residences under the brand "Student's Hostel," offering summer accommodation to thousands of young travelers visiting the city.
Since 2008, after winning a public competition, our cooperative Ballarò has expanded its activities by managing the municipal hostel in the city of Ferrara, in Emilia Romagna. The following year, we also arrived in Tuscany, taking over the management of the Palazzo Gowett hostel in Campiglia Marittima (LI).
In 2011, we added another gem to our collection: the Ghiara hostel in Reggio Emilia, to which we later added the catering service.
