Situated in the heart of Tuscany, just south of Siena, Monteroni d'Arbia is a privileged location for exploring the most significant places in the Sienese territories, ideal for stays by bike, car, motorbike or on foot.
The Hotel More Di Cuna is located between Le More and Cuna in the Municipality of Monteroni D'Arbia, an area of high-medieval origin in the center of the Crete Senesi. Originally a farmhouse called "La Strada," it owes its name to its strategic position at the intersection of the Via Cassia, a historic Roman road, and the Via Francigena, an important medieval route from Canterbury to Rome. For over seven hundred years, the farmhouse has supported the Santa Maria della Scala Hospital with its resources, intended for the reception of travelers and pilgrims.
Completely restored in 2006, the farmhouse preserves its historical essence with a respectful recovery of the elements that tell its story, combining the past with the present. Today, the MORE DI CUNA Hotel exhibits an austere and essential appearance, typical of the Middle Ages, and is surrounded by walls that conceal, beyond an imposing wrought iron gate, the main body and the rooms connected by large windows that offer a view of the exclusive garden, enriched by a 19th-century brick well and surrounded by large terraces overlooking the Tuscan hills.
The hotel offers free WiFi, cozy rooms equipped with large TV screens while still retaining the charm of their historical past. The common areas are furnished with care by those who love hospitality. There is ample indoor parking with some covered spaces, and near the hotel is the restaurant "Contedino," known for its traditional Tuscan dishes.
Of historical interest is the reference to Dante Alighieri, who, in the tenth canto of the Divine Comedy, mentions the Battle of Montaperti, describing the Arbia River stained red with blood.
