After extensive research, we arrived in Venoz, a small village at 1,800 meters above sea level in the Saint Berthelemy Valley in the Aosta Valley. We immediately fell in love with it and bought what we call our little den. We'd always thought about changing our lives, and the opportunity arose when we decided to buy an apartment in the village, which we completely renovated and turned into a vacation home.
The name "Lo Reinard"—the fox, in the Patuà dialect of the valley—comes from a story told to us by local elders. It's said that during the renovation of the house, the laborers who camped there would leave the leftovers from dinner on a plate outside the door in the evening. The next morning, however, the plate would disappear, only to reappear that evening. This went on for days until they decided to lie in wait to find the person responsible for these "thefts." Then they realized it was a fox, always the same one, who went shopping every evening.
The apartment enjoys a splendid 180° panoramic view of the Graian Alps.
The renovation included the complete removal of gas in favor of eco-friendly electricity for both heating and cooking. The heating is managed remotely by us, and the average temperature never exceeds 20 degrees Celsius. During the summer, the heating is turned off, and any request for it to be turned on will incur an additional cost of 10 euros per day.
It consists of an entrance hall leading to the living/dining area and a reading room. From here, a French door leads to a delightful balcony with a foldaway wooden table, perfect for enjoying the view even during meals.
A small kitchen is equipped with an oven, induction hob, and dishwasher.
A hallway leads to the bathroom with a shower and wall-mounted toilet.
The double bedroom features a chest of drawers, bedside tables, and a wardrobe with a mirror.
The apartment is located just steps from the planetarium and the Lignan astronomical observatory, and close to the 30km Gran Tor cross-country ski trail.
From here, countless walks for beginners and hikes for the more experienced beginner beginner beginner beginner, as well as via ferratas for the more adventurous.
The Nus train station and highway exit are about 30 minutes away.
