Thanks to the owners' stories and the walls surrounding you, Le Dodici Lune residence will make you live an unforgettable experience. However, since we are located within the city of Sassi and in a limited traffic area, we advise our guests to wear comfortable shoes and to travel with light luggage. Le Dodici Lune residence is located in a place set in the rock, far from the noise of traffic and tourists. It is an ideal place to relax and enjoy peace and tranquility. In a few minutes' walk you can visit rock churches, the cathedral and museums. In addition, in a few minutes you can reach the city center, where you will find shops and venues with live music. Sleeping in the Sassi of Matera is a unique experience!
Our rooms are spacious and bright, all carved into the rock and equipped with independent entrance and terrace. The rooms were inhabited until 1950 and renovated in 2007 with great attention to preserve the structural characteristics of the underground houses. They are equipped with a private bathroom, shower, hairdryer, towel and courtesy set, air conditioning, heating, fridge and internet connection.
The Mediterranean-flavored breakfast awaits you! If requested, you can also enjoy delicious savory dishes. For those with a sweet tooth, homemade cakes and pastries, artisanal milk biscuits, jams, and orange juices are available. Don't miss the opportunity to taste the local focaccias and DOP bread from Matera.
Our restaurant is located in a splendid hand-carved tuff wine cellar, which is dated and charming. It has a maximum seating capacity of 60 and, during the summer, the romantic outdoor courtyard can accommodate small parties of up to 30 people.

Their position is really enviable and adjacent to the Musma “ Museum of contemporary sculpture”; moreover in a few minutes walking it is possible to reach the most interesting and important sites of Matera such as the Cathedral, or Vittorio Veneto square, rock churches and the typically furnished cave dwelling.

At first glance, the sight of this enormous ruin structure made us think that we would never be able to achieve our dream and build our future. We felt like we were in a risky game.. either win or lose, and we took a chance. These are the words of the owners who, with great determination and optimism, started to restore a small gem in the Sassi.
It took 7 years to transform these ruins into an enchanting place nestled in the rock, where peace and tranquility reign.
The location of this place is truly advantageous, as it is situated at a short distance from the main tourist attractions of the city. Among these, we find the Musma Matera Museum, the Cathedral, the beautiful rock Churches, and the Noha House.
