Six of our dammusi, each with their own terrace almost suspended over the sea. Immersed in the Mediterranean scrub-covered Pantelleria National Park, we are only a stone’s throw from the Lago di Venere lake and just 4 kilometers from the main town of the island. The bay below our houses, reachable on foot along a private path, is ideal for diving and snorkeling.
My name is Ariane, and I love flowers, nature, silence, colors, and the emotions that the sea evokes. I adore Pantelleria with its vibrant colors, the deep blue sky that blends into the sea, the brilliant greens of the vegetation throughout the seasons, the scents, the vivid colors of the flowers that bloom from the black volcanic rocks, and the harsh summer light.
This landscape has always been a part of my world, and I see myself reflected in it. It is my sanctuary for the soul. I recognized and chose it as an excellent place to live a long time ago, even when the island was not well-known. I have lived there for a long time, and my children, Costanza and Gherardo, were born and raised there. They, like me, never miss an opportunity to return, and they carry the island in their eyes and hearts wherever they go.
So, the love for Pantelleria has been passed down from generation to generation since the 1970s when my parents arrived for a vacation and fell in love with the island, the cliffs, and the sunrise view, so much that they purchased this magnificent little green promontory overlooking the sea. My parents, Sallier de La Tour, and Tasca d'Almerita, brought together two great Sicilian families of farmers and winemakers and chose this place on an island outside of the usual worlds as a refuge and a place to share with those who, like them, were moved by the spectacle of nature. And so, they enriched this place, where the "ancient dammuso" already existed, by building six more dammusi, close but separate from each other, to respect the silence when one wants only to listen to the wind that carries the scent of the sea inside.
The Islanders have always called them "The Prince's Houses," and so I have chosen to continue to call them that too. Here, our family has always happily lived in the summer. Now, it is my turn to take care of our promontory and dedicate myself to The Prince's Houses with gratitude and deep respect for this island. I recognize the great privilege of being able to live in this place that inspires thoughts and reflections, unique and extraordinary, which now belongs to me. My dream is to make those who love the magic of nature fall in love with this island and resonate within themselves.
I await you, dedicating all the warmth of my island hospitality, as only in small islands is still possible.
