Campiglia Marittima is located on one of the last stretches of the metalliferous hills that extend almost to the sea, surrounding the Alta Maremma area.
It is one of the most beautiful historic villages on the Etruscan Coast, rich in evocative evidence of Etruscan, Roman, and medieval civilizations. The Rocca and the Archaeo-Mining Park of San Silvestro tell the fascinating story of its life in the Etruscan era and in the following centuries.
Just over 15 kilometers away, we find the Etruscan city of Populonia, perched on a hill overlooking the sea, where there is a picturesque village and an imposing fortress with a medieval tower. From the hill, you can admire the remains of the ancient city discovered by archaeologists, while in the valley below there are Etruscan tombs, grouped around the beautiful Gulf of Baratti, a splendid beach with a pine forest, a true paradise for nature lovers. All this is enclosed in the Baratti and Populonia Archaeological Park.
Between San Vincenzo and the Gulf of Baratti lies the Rimigliano Coastal Park, one hundred and fifty hectares of white sand and vegetation shaped by the sea winds, dominated by oaks and stretches of shaded pine forest, forming a green strip overlooking the sea.
Another park is the Sterpaia Coastal Park, a precious and rare wetland forest, typical of the ancient coastal landscape of Maremma. An enchanted environment where you can get lost among centuries-old oaks, in the company of the small animals that inhabit it, until you discover, in addition to the sand dunes, the sea. The park extends along the Tyrrhenian coast between Piombino and Follonica.
The Caldana and Calidario thermal baths are five kilometers away, in Venturina, while the suggestive ancient villages of Sassetta and Suvereto are a few kilometers inland. A bit further away, you will find art cities such as Massa Marittima, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano, and Pisa - all easily reachable by car. Piombino, the port for the island of Elba, is less than twenty minutes away, offering the opportunity to visit that happy island. A bit further north, the village of Bolgheri is famous worldwide for the excellence of its wines.
