Located on the hills of Lesa overlooking Lake Maggiore, in 1542 "La Torretta" was built, previously known as "al castèl". Originally, it was a "small house with a residence" and later became a lookout tower with a dovecote. It is said that someone (perhaps the soldier Pietro, as evidenced by a fresco on a wall of the house) carefully observed the vast stretch of the lake to monitor commercial traffic. From here, it is said that they would send messages with carrier pigeons to the nearest customs office to collect duty on goods.
Thanks to its excellent exposure to the sun, La Torretta enjoys an enviable microclimate. Surrounded by the hills of Vergante, already in the 18th century, it was a highly appreciated destination for vacations, thanks to its proximity to the lake, green hills, and orchards.
Today, after being renovated and expanded, La Torretta has become the home of Sara and Massimo, warmly welcoming their esteemed guests.
