The Lake of Pusiano, also known as Lagh de Pusian in Lombard dialect, is a charming alpine lake located among the hills of Brianza, within the picturesque Lambro Valley Park. This place offers a breathtaking view of the Orobie Prealps to the north and the wide panorama of Brianza to the south, thanks to its position at the foot of Mount Cornizzolo. The lake, with ancient origins as evidenced by traces of glaciation, is fed by the Lambro River.
The Lake of Pusiano has fascinated numerous artists over the centuries, including Parini, Monti, Porta, Manzoni, Stendhal, and the famous painter Segantini, who found inspiration in this magical place. A unique attraction of this lake, which sets it apart from the other lakes of Brianza, is the presence of the Island of Cypresses, so named for its approximately 130 cypress trees, some of which are centuries old. This small natural hill, fortified in the medieval period, houses a single dwelling surrounded by wonderful vegetation and surprising fauna, including squirrels, crowned cranes, peacocks, storks, and wallabies. The island can be visited on certain occasions, by reservation, and can be reached by boat departing from the Bosisio dock.
Another fascinating feature of Lake Pusiano is its picturesque reed bed, which almost completely embraces its shores, creating suggestive views at sunset and during autumn. In the municipality of Bosisio Parini, along the lake's shore, there is a pleasant pedestrian path that allows for relaxing walks, giving visitors moments of tranquility and beauty.
