The Pieve dei Preti is an old farmhouse built on top of one of the hills that characterize the Sienese countryside. The landscape, with its seasonal transformations, offers a spectacular view: from Monte Amiata to the green hills of Chianti, from the distant peaks of the Casentine mountains to the nearby medieval village of Serre di Rapolano. The structure has successive layers of construction. Some parts are very old and date back to the 12th century, while others are more recent and date back to the 19th and 20th centuries. From a historical perspective, it is believed that the Pieve dei Preti was a gift (around 1300-1400) to the Church, which has kept it to this day. The farmhouse has been restored following the principles of bio-construction, using natural materials (cork, Roman lime, earth and oil-based dyes and shielded electrical systems) and energy-saving solutions (solar panels and wall heating).
