Recommended Hike from La Casetta: Crabbia, Monte Barro and the Pescone Waterfall

One of the best ways to experience this area is to start walking directly from La Casetta and head up toward the small villages above the lake.
The route passes through woods, old mule tracks, quiet roads and panoramic spots overlooking Lake Orta.

You can start directly from here, near the little church.

1. From Borca to Crabbia

Time: about 30/45 minutes at a relaxed pace.

The trail goes mostly through the woods, with some uphill sections that are not particularly difficult and a few flatter parts.

Crabbia

Crabbia is a small and peaceful lakeside village, with old houses, meadows and a simple, authentic atmosphere.

Here you can stop and walk back to Borca or continue toward Monte Barro.

2. From Crabbia to Monte Barro

Time: about 30/40 minutes uphill.

The trail is almost entirely uphill through the woods.

In some parts the climb is steeper, then it becomes gentler again.

The climb is definitely worth it because from here you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views over Lake Orta.

From the top you can see the lake, San Giulio Island, the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Most of the trail stays in the woods, making it pleasant even during hot summer days.

3. Circular route to the Pescone Waterfall

For those who would like to continue walking a little longer, from Monte Barro you can descend toward:

      creating a beautiful circular route.

      From Monte Barro to the waterfall, consider about 30/40 minutes downhill.

      The route includes woods, old mule tracks, dirt trails, short paved sections near Agrano.

        Pratolungo - Agrano - Pescone Waterfall and then return to Borca

        Pescone Waterfall

        The Pescone Waterfall is one of the most beautiful natural spots near Omegna.

        The stream creates small natural pools, little waterfalls, cool and peaceful corners surrounded by nature

        In summer people swim here or simply cool their feet in the water, which stays very cold even during the hottest months.

        Return to Borca

        From Agrano you can walk back to Borca along the provincial road in about 15/20 minutes.

        The road is usually not very busy, but please pay attention to traffic.

        Small advice

        Always bring:

        • water

        • insect repellent during summer

        • something light to wear in case the temperature changes

        And most importantly, take your time.
        These places are not meant to be rushed. They are meant to be enjoyed.
