La Casa del Viandante
The rooms are located on the first floor of the oldest house in the neighborhood, which used to be an inn and a post station for travelers seeking shelter and a change of horses. The hot water is heated by solar energy, which is also used to provide electricity. Some rooms have underfloor heating, while the ceilings have exposed wooden beams and terracotta paneling, typical of Emilia. We wanted to preserve the original solid wood flooring in two rooms, while the other three rooms have been recently frescoed. The room furnishings are a blend of modernity and 1940s furniture.

The Le Chat bar located below our building offers our clients a bed and breakfast type of breakfast for the price of 3 euros, which includes a hot drink, juice or freshly squeezed juice, pastry, bread, butter, and jam or, alternatively, their excellent gnocco fritto.
The breakfast can be self-consumed at the establishment with free tea and coffee. An espresso coffee machine and a microwave oven are available to heat up the food.

Many years ago, this beautiful house was purchased with the intention of making it a peaceful residence. It was only after living here that I discovered the spaces were perfect for offering travelers a place to stay. The rooms are spacious and well-lit, and to my surprise, I found out that this house was originally built as an inn! In fact, guests who arrived in town would stop here to rest and refresh themselves, while their horses rested in our stables. The attics, where agricultural laborers once lived, have been transformed into comfortable and welcoming rooms, with frescoes on the walls and stone fireplaces.
The house was built in the early 1800s with solid red bricks, wooden beams, and lambrecchie, a typical Emilia-Romagna stone used for roofs and floors. During the renovation, we took care to preserve the original features, such as the terracotta ceilings and wooden beams, which are now exposed. We also decorated the rooms with beautiful frescoes to create a unique and evocative atmosphere.
To make our business eco-sustainable, we have installed a photovoltaic system and a solar thermal system. In this way, we can offer our guests a comfortable and environmentally friendly stay.
We are located in a strategic position in the western part of Via Emilia, the city's main road. We are halfway between the city center (2 km) and the Modena Nord highway exit, the fairgrounds, and the large shopping centers. Just a few steps away from us, there are three large green parks: the Ferrari Park, the Via D'Avia Park, and the equipped Secchia embankment, where you can go for walks and bike rides. We are in the heart of the Madonnina district, where you will find a wide choice of restaurants and pizzerias, both affordable (full menu at 13 euros for both lunch and dinner) and high quality. Nearby, there are shops of all kinds: supermarkets, bars, ice cream parlors, pastry shops, bakeries, laundries, pharmacies, herbalists, newsstands, and tobacconists. The bus stop is only 10 meters from our facility and will allow you to easily reach the train station (2.5 km), the fairgrounds, the large shopping centers, the historic center, the Policlinico, and the Hesperia hospital.
