My name is Anna Figliomeni, a 33-year-old girl from Favignana who has been working in hotels for years.
This is a new experience for me, as I finally open my B&B, reproducing it as if it were a small hotel.
I want to continue working as I was taught, pampering customers to make them feel at home, in a clean, fresh and comfortable place.
Imera was a blue fish fishing boat belonging to my family, primarily to my grandfather Vincenzo, who lived his life doing this job for years, which we call in Sicilian "A Lampara". He went from the Amicizia motorboat to the Azzardo and then to my father Pio, finishing his career with Imera. My father Peppe and my uncle Vito continued fishing with the latter for many years before ending their profession with the Paranza.
I grew up with Imera, which marked our path and our future.
Here on the island, fishing has contributed to its economy with various methods, from blue fish to paranzas and fishing nets, namely the "tre maglie", but in particular, tuna fishing.
It is possible to admire the former Florio Tuna Factory in Favignana, where you can observe the equipment, anchors and boats of the tuna slaughter and discover the life of the islanders of the past.
