"The Secret Garden" is a bed and breakfast located right in the heart of the city of Sorrento. We are delighted to welcome you to our home, situated in the main square of Sorrento, Piazza Tasso.
A few years ago, we decided to open our home to guests as a hobby. This house was once inhabited by Antonino's aunt, Aunt Anna, and her husband, Uncle Salvatore. We have renovated the entire apartment to create our bed and breakfast.
Today, the B&B Il Giardino Segreto has become our pride and joy. At the end of the last century, the entire building belonged to Antonino's family. He himself was born in the same house where he now lives with Vera, right next to the Secret Garden.
The original ancient palace, known as "the Crystal Palace" by the locals, is located in one of the most picturesque corners of the square. It hides a classic Sorrento-style garden, where you can admire and taste, depending on the seasons, oranges, lemons, pomegranates, and medlars. In the garden, there is a beautiful olive tree that gives its name to one of the three unique rooms of the Secret Garden: the Olive room.
The other two rooms are called Lemon and Pomegranate. We want your stay in our home to become a unique and unforgettable experience, during which you can enjoy the many attractions and opportunities that our land offers.
The Secret Garden opened its doors on March 25, 2016, offering rooms with private bathrooms, air conditioning, heating, free internet connection, high-fidelity music listening system, modern smart TV technology, and the possibility to watch your own multimedia content on the large TV screen through Wi-Fi network and the latest generation of Apple TV, which offers a wide range of movies and documentaries thanks to NETFLIX.
All the rooms have been carefully furnished during meticulous renovation. They are spacious, comfortable, fresh, and functional.
Our environment is warm and welcoming, and we are delighted to spoil our guests, especially with our delicious Italian buffet breakfast. The breakfast includes homemade pastries and cakes with natural ingredients, fluffy pancakes, jams made with fruit from our garden, and even delicious cookies.
Of course, breakfast is included in the price of the stay and is usually served at 8:30 in the morning.
If any of our guests have specific dietary needs, such as celiac disease, allergies, or intolerances, we would be happy to know in advance so that we can prepare a personalized breakfast that suits their needs.
We are also a cozy home restaurant in the heart of Sorrento, where you can taste traditional specialties in an oasis of tranquility.
From the balcony of our dining room, where we serve dinner in winter, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Piazza Tasso, Sorrento's main square, while on the opposite side you can savor a relaxing dinner, breathing the fresh and clean air of our garden, where in spring an incredible scent of orange blossoms spreads.
In these two places, we like to offer specialties that are hard to find in traditional restaurants. Here you can taste linguine with swordfish and green chili pepper, or the Garibaldi-style cod (just as the Hero of the Two Worlds liked it), or, depending on the season, eggplant Parmigiana or even homemade cannelloni with "pettole" similar to crepes. We can also prepare pasta and chickpeas with clams and truffles, pasta and beans with mussels, lasagna, pasta and potatoes with seafood, seafood gnocchi, and many other specialties.
One of the highlights is the "Genovese" (which has nothing to do with the capital of Liguria), a white meat sauce with onions, carrots, and celery, which flavors our potato gnocchi according to a recipe from my paternal grandmother.
There is something for every taste: Caprese salad, warm octopus with potatoes, "Calamarata" (particularly shaped pasta with squid sauce), "drowned" octopus spaghetti, Montanare (small portions of fried pizza dough with tomato and mozzarella), eggplant rolls, and many other dishes.

The Romantic room, which we call "POMEGRANATE" by the dominant color of the furniture and the bathroom that have the same color of the flowers that our pomegranate tree gives us in abundance in late spring, has an area of 18 square meters plus bathroom plus a beautiful 30 sqm terrace overlooking either the main street ("Corso Italia", the shopping street), both on our garden and the hills surrounding Sorrento. The terrace is equipped with sun beds, table and chairs so you can enjoy our sun and to have unforgettable moments of relaxation. The room has only a double bed size 160x190. In this room you can stay a maximum of two people. Obviously in this room, as well as in the other two, you can place a cot for our small guests.
The room type "De Luxe", which we call "LEMON" for its yellow as lemons of our "Secret" Garden, has two balconies that overlook the "Corso Italia" (the main street of Sorrento) and one of them also towards Piazza Tasso. The room has an area of 22 square meters plus the bathroom so it is spacious and welcoming. This room has a large double bed sized 180x200 cm, 25cm height mattress. According to the demands this room can be equipped with two single beds instead of a double bed. Furthermore it has a sofa bed for one person who is not a "rollout" type, but traditional with 107x180 cm mattress and everything you need for it to be a comfortable bed. The room is equipped with parquet floor and soundproof door.
Exclusive room type (which we call "OLIVO", because one of the two balconies can admire the olive tree of our Secret Garden) it is equipped with a balcony and a private terrace in the shape of "L" of 11 square meters of surface. The room has an area of 26 square meters and a very spacious bathroom. It is very nice and comfortable. The bedroom has a large double bed size of 180x200 cm with 25 cm mattress. However, on request the room can be equipped with two single beds. At the same time it also has a double sofa bed sized 140x190 cm. In total in the room can be accommodated comfortably four people.
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Antonino Di Maio, the manager of the Secret Garden, alongside my lovely wife Vera.
For over thirty years, I have been devoted to energy-saving engineering, but for the past year, I have finally realized my passion for hospitality with this enchanting establishment. I pour all my attention into transforming our little corner of paradise into a true vocation. Naturally, I can rely on the invaluable collaboration of Vera, who is an expert in providing our guests with valuable information on getting around, enjoying delicious meals, and fully experiencing the wonders of our splendid city.
I love cooking, and sometimes I even have fun doing it together with our guests. Furthermore, my passion for photography is reflected in the images you can admire inside our B&B. Lastly, I also have a weakness for poetry, but don't worry, I'll spare your ears from any forced readings.
All that remains is for me to wish you a peaceful journey, and perhaps we will have the opportunity to meet in person.
After spending some time exploring the wonderful city of Sorrento, it is highly recommended to visit some of the other splendid locations nearby, such as Pompeii, Amalfi, Capri, Naples, Positano, and Herculaneum. However, don't forget to take a peaceful panoramic walk around Sorrento to admire the breathtaking views of the Bay of Naples and Salerno, as well as the enchanting island of Capri. We will be happy to provide our guests with all the necessary information to explore these unique places on the Sorrentine Peninsula, which mass tourism often overlooks.
