Apartment in Cagliari in the Castello

In the centre of the medieval town, the flat is located on the ground floor with a separate entrance. Carefully restored, it has retained its original layout with architectural features of great value such as vaults and arches. The discovery of a Punic cistern during the renovation work is an important testimony to the building's long history. The floor is made of handmade terracotta tiles fired in a wood-fired kiln, while some antique Sardinian terracotta tiles have been recovered and reused in the entrance hall and storage room. The interior consists of three main rooms: a relaxation area dedicated to reading and music, where a second cistern of uncertain age was found, the bedroom, and the entrance hall. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower. The property does not have a kitchen. Adjacent to the Cathedral and the most important historical buildings, the flat is the ideal starting point for visiting the museums, towers, ramparts and any other site of cultural and historical importance in the city on foot.

Area Castello

Castello, the most famous and historic of Cagliari's seven hills, is home to the ancient neighbourhood from which it takes its name, with its walls, towers and historic buildings. The hill, made of limestone, rises to about 100 metres above sea level. It was founded by the Pisans in the 13th century AD, 1215-1326. It was followed by the Aragonese-Spanish, 1326-1708, the Austrians, 1708-1717, the Spanish returned in 1717 until 1720 and finally the Savoyards 1720-1861. Currently, the Prefecture is located in the Castello district, the Metropolitan City Council in the Royal Palace in Piazza Palazzo, a few metres from our facility, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria, Church of the Archdiocese of Cagliari. The district is also home to the main campus of the University of Cagliari, which houses the Rector's Office in Via dell'Università.
