Area mid-centre

Rivalta sul Mincio is a quaint village nestled in the serene countryside of Mantua, overlooking the banks of the Mincio River and surrounded by a captivating natural landscape. The village is located in the heart of the Mincio Valley Nature Reserve, a wetland area of exceptional environmental significance included in the European Natura 2000 network and regarded as one of the most important in the continent due to its rich flora and fauna. Here, nature prevails with reeds, bodies of water, and expanses of lotus flowers that create stunning and unique scenes in the summer. The area invites slow exploration through nature trails, boat excursions, and cycling routes that traverse unspoiled environments. The network of bike paths connecting Rivalta to nearby locations allows visitors to discover the reserve and the Mantuan countryside while cycling along the river, amidst tranquil landscapes and picturesque views. There are also opportunities to experience the river up close with canoeing or boating trips, perfect for observing aquatic birds and the typical vegetation of wetland areas from a unique perspective. Just a few kilometers away is the charming village of Grazie, known for the Sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie, a place of worship that holds great significance in local tradition and sits on the banks of the Mincio. A bit further lies Mantua, an elegant city of art surrounded by three lakes, where the historical and artistic heritage linked to the Gonzaga dynasty coexists with a refined and relaxed atmosphere. Strolling through Renaissance squares, historic palaces, and waterside views, one can still sense the allure of one of the most important cultural capitals of the Italian Renaissance. The location is also ideal for exploring other significant centers in the Mantuan and Lombard areas. Sabbioneta, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the most fascinating examples of an ideal Renaissance city; San Benedetto Po houses the famous monastic complex associated with Matilda of Canossa, while Castiglione delle Stiviere is known as the birthplace of Saint Luigi Gonzaga and is linked to the origins of the Red Cross. Thanks to its strategic location, Rivalta sul Mincio also allows easy access to Lake Garda, Verona, and several major cities in Northern Italy, providing the perfect balance between nature, culture, and the culinary traditions typical of the Mantuan region. Here, the pace of life is slow and authentic, ideal for those wishing to discover a territory rich in history and breathtaking landscapes.
