Gran Paradiso

Bed & Breakfast in Pompiod - Jovençan in the countryside

Our house, formerly known as "Maison de Rose," was one of the most important residences in the picturesque village of Pompiod. Belonging to a wealthy family, it also housed a school for the village children.

With great care, we have renovated this house using all the existing materials, personally dedicating ourselves to the work. The woods have been treated with natural products by Karin, and every structural and decorative element has been reused. The final result is a charming house that retains its ancient charm while also offering modern comfort.

You will find free Wi-Fi, underfloor heating, TVs in both the living room and the bedroom, and everything you need for a pleasant and relaxing stay.

On summer days, you can enjoy an outdoor lunch on our spacious balcony or sunbathe in our enchanting garden.

We also provide bicycles for guests of the accommodation and the nearby B&B Gran Paradiso.

If you have sports equipment such as skis or boots, you can leave them in our dry and heated basement laundry room.

Well-behaved pets are allowed, as long as they are already weaned and accustomed to living indoors. We just ask that you do not leave them alone in the apartment, as we have had negative experiences in the past.

Our breakfast

Our breakfast is a unique and delightful experience, served in the charming common room on the ground floor, fully furnished with antique wood. Our rich buffet includes a variety of delicacies, including two types of bread (white and whole wheat), homemade cakes, both plain and fruit yogurt, muesli and corn flakes, artisanal jams, fresh seasonal fruit, milk, coffee prepared both in a coffee maker and with a filter, a wide selection of teas and herbal infusions, fruit juices, sugar, and honey from our neighbor's local production.

For those who desire it, we also offer a savory breakfast option, with local eggs, ham, and cheese. However, please inform us in advance of your preference for the savory breakfast, as it is included in the standard room price but requires specific organization.

It is important to emphasize that all our jams are carefully made by Karin, using mainly fruit from our family orchards. In the preparation of the jams, we only use fresh fruit and traditional white sugar, without thickeners or sugars with added pectin.

Usually, we offer a variety of jam flavors including peaches, apricots, strawberries, cherries, plums, apples, oranges, apples and kiwis, figs, pear, and medlar. The morning cake can vary between the famous Sacher (a chocolate cake with apricot jam), the typical apple and almond cake from the area, and during the summer, a fresh fruit cake. Other options include tartlets with cherries or plums, cakes made with chestnut flour and walnuts, cakes with carrots and oat flakes, and the most recent addition, a rhubarb cake. All our cakes are made with fresh eggs from our family-raised hens.

Upon request, we are able to prepare breakfasts suitable for people with celiac disease, ensuring a tasty and gluten-free experience.

Karin Elisabeth

You will be hosted by Karin Elisabeth

Karin, a nature and outdoors enthusiast, and Corrado, an alpine guide from Gran Paradiso, met in Pakistan during an adventurous trek in the K2 area. Since 2011, they have been living in the village of Pompiod. A few years ago, they decided to make a living through tourism and opened a B&B, in addition to the Gran Paradiso accommodation. They have extensive knowledge of every corner of the Aosta Valley and are happy to provide all the tourist information and suggestions to ensure that your vacation in our beautiful valley becomes unforgettable. In their free time, they go running, climbing, and do small repairs to their lovely home. They constantly explore new corners and places to recommend to their guests.

Area Countryside

Our location is truly privileged, as we are close to the city of Aosta (7 km), but at the same time immersed in nature. Our house is located in a beautiful hilly area, surrounded by vineyards and orchards, and enjoys a pleasant climate. You can start directly from here to do short or long MTB routes, or, after just three km, reach the long cycle path that crosses the Aosta Valley. If you love trekking, you will find numerous trails of different levels, all starting directly from our house. With a half-hour drive, you can reach the three main valleys of the Gran Paradiso National Park (Cogne, Rhemes, Valsavarenche). Furthermore, being located in a central position, you can visit the entire Aosta Valley, making us your base. During winter, you can reach the cable car to Pila in just a few minutes by car or bus, or head towards Mont Blanc and ski in Courmayeur or La Thuile (about 40 minutes away). In the immediate vicinity, you will find numerous restaurants and pizzerias, all with an excellent price-quality ratio, and we will be happy to recommend them to you when you come to visit us. The Pila ski resort is easily accessible, as are the cross-country ski trails of the Gran Paradiso Valleys. The owner, an Alpine Guide of the Gran Paradiso and an expert connoisseur of the Aosta Valley territory, will be happy to give you valuable advice for your excursions and climbs on our mountains, as well as for your tourist visits throughout the Aosta Valley.
