The village of Cerro, municipality of Laveno Mombello, is a hidden jewel of Lake Maggiore, with a wide sandy beach, a small old harbour, the International Museum of Ceramic Design, cobbled streets and the flowery courtyards.
The house is located in an old courtyard on the lake in the historic center of the village, in the pedestrian area where children still play ball on the street and ride bikes and skates, we all know each other and you will be greeted friendly by the locals.
The village is very small and can be visited on foot. In Cerro there are 2 sailing clubs (it is also possible to rent sailboats), a rowing club, a grocery store, a clothing store, 3 bars (one seasonal), 3 restaurants, a pizzeria, an ice cream shop, a tobacconist/newsagent, a hairdresser, a church. All reachable within 200 meters.
The nearest beach to the house (where the sailing clubs are) is of pebbles and rocks, with a pier for mooring boats, used mostly by locals.
The largest sandy beach, about 300 meters from the house, is supervised by lifeguard but with free access.
The International Museum of Ceramic Design (MIDEC), at the entrance to the village, has a permanent collection and organizes temporary exhibitions, ceramics courses and workshops for children. In summer in its courtyard there is open-air cinema, concerts and theater.
Occasionally in spring or summer weekends there are artisan or food producers' markets and the Rowing Team cooks its special fried lake fish.
In the hamlet of Ceresolo, less than 1km away, the beautiful Romanesque church of San Defendente.
