Cascina Mottainai is situated in a charming location on the first hills of Bologna, precisely in the Carteria di Sesto area, bordering the picturesque Gessi Bolognesi and Calanchi dell'Abbadessa Park. Our house is reachable at the end of a picturesque dirt road that rises from 130 to 180 meters in altitude, accessible on foot, by mountain bike, by car, or by van.
We warmly welcome your four-legged friends and we are perfectly equipped to accommodate families with children of all ages (we ourselves have two children aged 9 and 6). The cottage we offer as a B&B is a cozy 30 square meter studio, equipped with all the necessary comforts: a private bathroom, a well-equipped kitchen, and a double bed. This independent space guarantees free access at any time, as well as independent heating and air conditioning, a refrigerator, a washing machine, and a stove.
The entire structure is built according to the principles of bio-construction, using natural materials such as wood, straw, and raw earth. Completed in 2023, it is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as a heat pump, a rainwater recovery system, and energy storage batteries, making it a model of sustainability and energy efficiency.
Outside, you will be welcomed by a hectare of land that includes a forest, a compost toilet, and a delightful treehouse, designed for the enjoyment of the little ones. Guests also have access to a barbecue for pleasant outdoor grilling and many other surprises that will make your stay unique and unforgettable. We are located on the first hills of the Emiliano Apennines, just a 20-minute drive from the city of Bologna. This enchanting place is surrounded by nature, nestled in a forest inhabited by deer, wild boars, hares, foxes, and a few wolves. Moreover, the renowned Mater Dei trail passes through here, one of the most popular hiking paths in the area (the road that leads to our house is just a small part of this trail). Children will have plenty of space to play and have fun, while adults can relax with a barbecue or rent a mountain bike or a fatbike (we have 3 bicycles available). If you are a nature lover, the Gessi Bolognesi and Abbadessa Calanchi Park will offer you a true paradise of trails and breathtaking views, suitable for all levels of experience. This wonderful place is worth visiting in every season, especially in spring when the temperatures are ideal, and in autumn during the foliage!
