The farmhouse "Le Madonne", which houses the B&B, stands out significantly from the typical closed courtyard farmhouse in Cremona, while being located in a well-defined architectural and courtyard environment. While classic courtyard farmhouses are developed as quadrilaterals with porches, houses, and barns distributed according to the cardinal points and prevailing winds, forming a multi-functional, rational, and integrated building complex, "Le Madonne" has a single architectural front with majestic pointed arches.
Built in the early 20th century in neo-Gothic style, probably designed by the architect Ulisse Stacchini, known for the Milan Central Station, the farmhouse is characterized by two tower houses and stable and barn spaces. This building stands out for its unique roof system, in which wooden beams are replaced by coffers with internal props that counterbalance the weight of the roof materials.
The B&B occupies one of the two tower houses and part of the renovated stables for housing. In addition to technological comforts, it offers an atmosphere of tranquility and serenity of the countryside, with centuries-old trees along the ditches and mighty oaks in the fields.
The hamlet of Luignano is crossed by numerous cycle paths that connect Cremona, Crema, Lodi, Soresina, Pizzighettone, Soncino, and other neighboring areas of the upper Cremona. For those who love to move by bike or on foot, bicycles, guides, and outdoor GPS are available. In the farmhouse, a common "cultural relaxation" room houses mechanical musical instruments for an audible experience of good humor. In addition, a selection of books and art films can be found to enrich the mind and eyes during the stay.
