Welcome to Sicily and thank you for choosing "Casa Piazza Santa Lucia". I am Gabriella and I have decided to embark on this new adventure with great care, passion, and enthusiasm, aiming to satisfy all your needs. I named my property "Casa Piazza Santa Lucia" because the apartment overlooks the main square of the neighborhood, which comes alive around the basilica. In fact, the house is just a few steps away from the Basilica and the Tomb of Santa Lucia.
The location of the house is extremely strategic: you can easily visit Ortigia and Syracuse without having to use a car. From here, in just a few minutes, you can easily reach places of artistic and scenic interest, archaeological sites, museums, and beaches. Moreover, along the way, you can discover gastronomic establishments of great interest and taste the delicious typical products of Sicilian cuisine.
Inside the house, I have created a welcoming environment and prepared valuable suggestions and tips for you about the Syracuse area. I hope that your stay is enjoyable and remains a beautiful memory for you.

Santa Lucia Square in Syracuse is a historical and architectural treasure located in the Borgata neighborhood, a former fishing area. Despite not being extremely popular, the square exudes a unique serenity. It showcases remarkable architectural balance, hosting the Basilica of Santa Lucia outside the walls and the Sepulcher Chapel of Santa Lucia (below street level). The basilica, originally Byzantine and reconstructed in Baroque style after the 1693 earthquake, is traditionally the site of the martyrdom of Santa Lucia. The church's nave was decorated by Caravaggio, who created "The Burial of Santa Lucia," now in the Church of Santa Lucia alla Badia. The church also houses the tomb of Santa Lucia and provides access to the catacombs of the same name, the second largest in the Western world after those in Rome. The Sepulcher Chapel, adjacent to the basilica, is the work of architect Giovanni Vermexio with an octagonal plan and Corinthian capitals.
