Charming historical residence located in the heart of via Matteotti, one of the most picturesque and peaceful streets of San Giorgio a Cremano, an enchanting town at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. From Casa Girasole, it only takes a mere 200 meters to reach the Circumvesuviana station, which allows for quick access to the center of Naples, the extraordinary archaeological sites of Herculaneum and Pompeii, as well as the splendid Sorrento coast. The history of San Giorgio a Cremano dates back to Roman times when it emerged as a settlement. The name itself, San Giorgio a Cremano, originates from a legend according to which the villagers built a chapel dedicated to St. George, seeking protection from Vesuvius' eruptions. However, in 1631, the historic center of San Giorgio a Cremano was completely destroyed by a devastating volcanic explosion. This city has always been renowned for its healthiness and, during the Bourbon era, it attracted many noble Neapolitan families who, in the 18th century, chose it as a holiday destination, constructing numerous magnificent Vesuvian villas. San Giorgio a Cremano is also the birthplace of the famous actor, director, and screenwriter Massimo Troisi. Every year, on April 23rd, the patron saint of San Giorgio a Cremano, St. George, is celebrated in a traditional festival.
