Our Vacation Home is a 16th-century Renaissance villa located in a hilly area surrounded by the peacefulness of green forests and the silver-gray of olive trees. It overlooks the plain where the city of Lucca is located, which is about 6 km away and easily accessible by city bus. It is an excellent starting point for visiting other Tuscan cities, as the city of Pisa is 18 km away, the seaside town of Viareggio is 20 km away, and the city of Florence is about 70 km away. Originally purchased in the early 1800s to be used as a summer seminar for the Diocese of Lucca, it was transformed in the 1970s by Monsignor Enrico Bartoletti, who later became the secretary of the Italian Episcopal Conference, into a Diocesan House for spiritual exercises, seminars, training courses for clergy and laity, pilgrim accommodations, retreats for various parish needs, groups or movements, families, and ecclesiastical events. The House, under the episcopate of Monsignor Bruno Tommasi during the Jubilee of 2000, has been equipped with the necessary comforts to ensure a welcoming environment while preserving the sobriety that characterized it in previous centuries. The House belongs to the Diocese of Lucca and is associated with the F.I.E.S - Italian Federation of Spiritual Exercises. It is open year-round through previously arranged agreements with the responsible parties. It has a capacity of 73 beds, with rooms divided into singles, doubles, and triples, each with its own facilities and Wifi connection. Additionally, the House has three meeting rooms, two dining rooms, and an internal chapel. Outside, there are three garden spaces, parking for cars, and a square for buses. Tents can be set up in the surrounding meadow, and there is an open field equipped for soccer for the younger guests.
