Located just a short journey from Rome, only 20 km away, this heavenly getaway is the ideal place for experiencing a genuine Roman holiday, a weekend of relaxation, cultural enrichment, and culinary delights, or for taking a break during a business trip. The ancient and noble predecessor of the current Monterotondo was the Sabine city of Eretum, whose history is as old as Rome itself. Cited by Virgil among the Sabine cities that took up arms against Aeneas, Eretum is known to ancient historians primarily as the backdrop of conflicts between the Romans and Sabines during the era of the Kings. From the 13th century onwards, the history of Monterotondo is intertwined with that of the Roman noble families who ruled it, first the Orsini and then the Barberini.
