In the heart of the historic center of Marittima, the ancient villa of the Margiotta family has been completely renovated to create elegant suites and cozy apartments.
Our guest house is located in the splendid residence of the Margiotta family, situated in the historic center of Marittima. The name of the accommodation, Campurra, derives from the vast area surrounding the villa that once housed artisan workshops and an animal market, particularly horses, which brought life to the village in the 18th century.
This architecturally valuable building has been completely restored over the centuries and consists of two wings, accessible through a large portico typical of noble residences.
The left wing of the villa welcomes guests in two elegant rooms, the living room and the study, both frescoed and furnished in Art Nouveau style. These spaces are characterized by magnificent star-shaped vaulted ceilings and exquisite mosaic floors. The modern kitchen, called "camera della focagna," is equipped with a fireplace and an original 17th-century oven. It is believed that in the past, it was used to bake bread for the first inhabitants of the village, and the rest of the left wing of the villa developed around this ancient oven. This hypothesis is supported by the presence of an access door (now internal) and a small window with architectural features typical of external openings.
The reception area is enriched by two antique bookcases, one of which was made using 17th-century artisanal techniques, such as the use of wooden nails instead of metal.
The right wing of the villa, dating back to the 19th century, consists of three rooms and two ancient stables, which have been restored and transformed into comfortable spaces with ancient brick floors.
Finally, at the back of the building, there is a large 500 square meter garden, enriched with fruit trees and ornamental plants. Immersed in the silence and freshness of oranges and mandarins, you will also find two fully equipped apartments: Casa delle Tegole and Casa Giardino.
