The Lamon plateau unfolds at the foot of the Primiero - San Martino Dolomites and the Dolomiti Bellunesi park: it is the westernmost part of Feltrino and connects to the rest of the region through the picturesque routes of the Cismon river and the Ancient Via Claudia Augusta. The Lamon territory is characterized by over 5400 hectares of lush nature, ranging from 400 to 2000 meters in altitude, in a typically mountainous-alpine climate. Numerous springs feed the clear streams of Senaiga and Cismon. Over 130 kilometers of roads traverse this mountain, which has preserved its charm and the millennia-old work of nature in its depths. For millennia, the Lamon plateau has been inhabited, as evidenced by the discovery in 1988 of a prehistoric hunter of great interest in Val Rosna, on the upstream side of the Cismon river. More recent, instead, are the findings of fossil fauna in the San Donà cave. Among these, of particular paleontological importance, are those related to the Ursus Spelaeus, a large bear widespread in the Alps (the skeleton of one of these bears has been completely reconstructed and is visible in the town hall atrium).
