The B&B "La Torre", located in the heart of the historic center of Crema, inside the prestigious Franceschini palace, adjacent to the sanctuary of Santa Maria delle Grazie and the Campo di Marte gardens, represents an elegant fusion of history and modernity. This extraordinary structure is born from the meticulous renovation of an ancient 17th-century monastery, preserving the original architecture, the charming internal courtyard with a fountain, and the characteristic bell tower. The building has gone through significant historical moments, such as the suppression of religious orders in 1797 under Napoleon, which transformed the former monastery into a private residence, depriving it of its bronze bells.
Today, the B&B "La Torre" offers a unique experience to its guests, combining period materials and details with modern comfort and design. Despite its central location, the structure guarantees a peaceful and quiet environment, with elegant and bright spaces equipped with all amenities, including underfloor heating and cooling, soundproofing and thermal insulation, oak floors, marble bathrooms with Venetian plaster finishes, and Wi-Fi internet connection.
Inside, guests are greeted by a reception enriched by the fresco "Ave Maria a trasbordo" by Giovanni Segantini, and can access a large living area, ideal for moments of reading, conversation, and breakfast. Segantini's frescoes, such as "Il ritorno dal bosco" and "Le Tre cime di Lavaredo," contribute to creating a magical and relaxing atmosphere. From the tower, one can enjoy a breathtaking view of Crema, with its Cathedral, historic churches, and medieval and Renaissance buildings.
The B&B has three exclusive reception areas, each with rooms equipped with private bathrooms:
- "Primula Rossa": a double room with a 1900s Art Deco-style bathroom, made of walnut burl.
- "Stella Alpina": a double room with a bathroom, characterized by a modern Tyrolean style with painted fir finishes.
- "Genziana": a loft suite with three beds, furnished in Lombard style from the mid-1800s with decorated poplar wood, with exclusive access to the terrace.
We are Beniamino and Paolo Basso. We found ourselves managing this facility during EXPO Milano 2015 almost by chance. The experience of this year has been very positive; we have met interesting people from different countries with whom we have shared our home. Our interests are music, art, and the mountains. We also enjoy introducing others to this part of ourselves, as well as the beauty of our region and, in particular, our city, Crema.
