Bed & Breakfast in Buonconvento in the hills

The Quarantallina is a charming farmhouse, now transformed into an Agriturismo, located on the top of one of the most picturesque hills in the Sienese countryside, in the Val d'Orcia. It overlooks a natural terrace of Tuscany with incredibly beautiful landscapes, allowing you to spend your holidays in complete privacy and tranquility. The double rooms, with private bathrooms, are located on the first floor of the farmhouse and offer a splendid panoramic view.

The holiday apartments, located inside the farmhouse, also enjoy an excellent panoramic view. They have independent entrances and their own outdoor space for al fresco dining.

Serena & Mario

You will be hosted by Serena & Mario

Quarantallina is a source of immense artistic inspiration, thanks to the emotions that this captivating landscape manages to evoke. It's no coincidence that the owner, Mario Nardi, a true artist, has chosen this marvelous place to find his inspiration.

Mario takes pleasure in adorning the Agriturismo garden with one-of-a-kind sculptures that bring a touch of uniqueness and creativity.

Area Hills

Buonconvento, one of Italy's most beautiful villages today, is located 5 km from the Agriturismo. It is renowned for its 13th-century city walls and its museums of Sacred Art and Sharecropping. At the same distance from the Agriturismo, you will find Murlo, an Etruscan land, with fascinating artifacts that can be admired at the local museum.

To the north of the Agriturismo lies Siena, already famous for the Palio horse race on July 2nd and August 16th, its Cathedral, the enchanting Piazza del Campo, and the charming streets winding through the city.

Heading south, we find Montalcino, renowned for its Brunello wine, Pienza, the City of Pope Pius II, Bagno Vignoni, a medieval village famous for its Roman-era thermal baths. We also recommend visiting exceptionally beautiful abbeys such as S'Antimo, Monte Oliveto Maggiore, or San Galgano, as well as the Chapel of Montesiepi with its sword in the rock. The artistic territory extends even further south with San Quirico d'Orcia and Montepulciano, or north with Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, Volterra, and much more.

For nature lovers, there are numerous trails and routes that can be explored on foot, by bike, or on horseback. From the Agriturismo, you can reach Buonconvento by taking the dirt road in the Piana area, also known as the "Eroica" route for bicycle enthusiasts, or head towards Murlo on another dirt road. We also suggest following the marked route "La Vecchia Ferrovia," which connects Murlo to Befa along the path of the old railway that served Murlo's coal mines. At the end of the route, we recommend taking a lunch break at the inn "Da Brunello," where you can enjoy delicious local dishes. The possibilities are endless, considering the numerous spectacular horseback riding routes through fields, valleys, and castles.. it feels like being the protagonist of a movie!
For those who love thermal baths, the thermal facilities of Bagno Vignoni and Rapolano Terme are easily accessible, offering a source of well-being for the mind and body.

For beach lovers, the Tyrrhenian coast is only an hour and a half drive from the Agriturismo. We recommend visiting the Sterpaia Park for its crystal-clear sea, wild appearance, and wide beaches, or the Maremma Regional Park in Alberese, characterized by a charming Mediterranean landscape. You can explore the park and end the day with a refreshing swim in the sea!
For wine lovers, this region is characterized by numerous DOCG and DOC wines, such as Brunello, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Chianti Colli Senesi, Montecucco, and more. Many wineries open their doors for guided tours and tastings. You can book a guided tour at the Agriturismo.
