La Fontaccia, an agriturismo located in the beautiful Val di Sieve, near Florence, is nestled among the picturesque hills of Chianti Rufina. This enchanting place, owned by Elisabetta's family, has been restored with great respect after years of abandonment. Today, it represents an ideal retreat for those seeking inspiration and relaxation in a romantic rural atmosphere.
Elisabetta and Samuele will warmly welcome you into their home and organic farm. You will find two apartments and three rooms, each characterized by unique colors, furnishings, and layout. Every space has been carefully curated, using authentic Tuscan furniture materials and old country objects.
The farm covers 14 hectares of land, including forests and olive groves. From the beginning, we have placed a particular emphasis on sustainability, both from an environmental and agricultural, energy, and labor perspective. After three years of conversion, we are now certified organic.
We personally take care of every aspect of the farm, providing an authentic and welcoming environment for all our guests.
Our delightful breakfast is set up as a buffet, and during the colder or rainier months, it is served inside our cozy common room. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy it outdoors in our enchanting courtyard with a view of the beautiful Val di Sieve.
In our abundant breakfast, you will find a selection of fresh and genuine products from local farms, with a special emphasis on organic items. You can treat your taste buds to coffee, tea, milk, fresh fruit juices or smoothies, homemade jams, local honey, cereals, butter, artisanally prepared cakes or cookies, cured meats and cheeses from the region, appetizing omelets, homemade bread, and fresh seasonal fruit.
Our cuisine embodies the authentic Tuscan tradition, with dishes prepared according to recipes passed down in our families for generations. We pay great attention to using local, seasonal, and preferably organic ingredients, many of which are produced directly by ourselves.
We firmly believe in the importance of the short supply chain to ensure Good, Clean, and Fair food that respects the seasons, as emphasized by the motto of Slow Food, of which we are proud members. Every morning, Samuele goes to the village to purchase fresh products from local shops or farms, thus avoiding waste and always ensuring top-quality ingredients.
We believe that the quality of food is closely linked to human relationships. Our menu is fixed and changes daily to satisfy every palate. We are attentive to different dietary needs and also offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free alternatives, with prior communication.

The Fienile (barn) Apartment is inside what once was the barn. It was built in the '50s to replace the original one that today is the breakfast room. The upper floor has walls made of bricks arranged so that air would flow through, but rain would stay outside; the lower floor hosted chickens and rabbits. Its elevated position and the big windows make the Fienile Apartment very panoramic. The terrace with view of the upper floor and the ground level covered patio make a relaxing and reserved space for the guests to enjoy.
The apartment Diospero is well lighted and located near the small garden of aromatic plants. From the apartment, you may enjoy a lovely view over the hills of Val di Sieve and the surrounding lands of the farmhouse. In the past the apartment used to be the stable of the residence, and this is the reason why it is provided with a private entrance. Diospero’s small kitchen is supplied with all necessary flatware, a refrigerator and an induction cooking surface. The soft colored furnishings recall the fruit it is named after – the persimmon – which grows on the kaki tree near the old wash house. Diospero’s wonderful view over the hills of Val di Sieve and canopy bed confer to the apartment a very warming and romantic atmosphere.
The Passiflora apartment is surrounded by a green olive grove; from its large terrace you can admire a beautiful panorama of the entire valley. During the summer nights you can have an alfresco dinner while enjoying the Val di Sieve sunset. Since it used to be an old tractor warehouse, the Passiflora has a private entrance and garden. The living room is provided with all the amenities – induction cooktops, a fridge, etc – you need. The bathroom has a spacious shower and a window. The fine decor was inspired by the Tuscan aristocratic homes of the XVIII century: each room with its own colors. The main room is decorated with ocher tones and is equipped with a queen-size bed, a large walk-in closet and a French door that overlooks the garden. The second room is decorated in light lilac and the French door opens on the terrace. Thanks to its panorama and decor, this apartment has a romantic and welcoming atmosphere.
Welcome to our farmhouse, we are Elisabetta and Samuele, ready to welcome you with warmth and hospitality.
We were born and raised in the city, immersed in urban habits and customs. We both enrolled in university: Elisabetta chose Economics, while Samuele studied Architecture. During these years, we met and became a couple.
Living in Florence, surrounded by families who have passed down the culinary traditions of the region, has always made us dream of a simpler and rural life. The countryside has always been an important part of the history of this city, and even today many Florentine families own a country house, relatives who live there, or are descendants of farmers.
Escaping from the stress of city life, we found refuge in our farmhouse, La Fontaccia. Initially, it was just a part of the land that we could use, but the parties with friends and the peace of nature made us realize that this place could become more than just a family property in ruins.
The charm of the old building covered in ivy and the wild nature reclaiming once cultivated territories filled us with nostalgia and a desire to restore this place to its ancient beauty. So, with the help of our family and funds from the European Community, we began the renovation works, trying to preserve the structure, shapes, and original materials, also using new technologies that reduce environmental impact.
We reclaimed the uncultivated land and replanted new olive trees, reopening the farm. After years of hard work, in 2014 we are finally ready to welcome our first guests.

La Fontaccia is a charming Tuscan farmhouse located in the beautiful Val di Sieve, only 25 kilometers from Florence and just a 5-minute drive from the nearest train station, where you can catch a convenient train to the capital. Our ideal location places us halfway between Florence and the picturesque Mugello, just thirty minutes from the stunning Casentino and the nearest convenient highway.
